Transitioning from Military Police Officer to Cybersecurity: My Journey with Forge Institute
A few months ago, I embarked on a life-changing journey, leaving my role as a Military Police officer to join Forge Institute's Fellowship Program. Today, I want to share my experiences and express my deep appreciation for the invaluable support provided by the Forge Team.
Through the DoD SkillBridge program, Forge Institute equips service members like myself with the necessary skills and knowledge to transition into the IT and Cybersecurity industry. Recognizing the value of my military experience in leadership and program management, the Fellowship program allowed me to leverage these skills in a civilian setting.
During the fellowship, I had the opportunity to enroll in Forge Academy's IT/Cyber Fundamentals Course. This comprehensive training provided me with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in IT and Cybersecurity, covering a wide range of topics from network security to digital forensics. Equipped with these tools, I was prepared to excel in my new career path.
The unwavering support, training, and knowledge I gained through both the Fellowship program and Forge Academy played a pivotal role in securing my full-time position as a Lead Forensic Technologist. It was an incredible opportunity to bridge the gap between my military service and my new career path.
