Forge Institute names Matt Bunch to Board of Advisors

Matt Bunch, Senior Director IT/Cybersecurity for Tyson Foods, is on the frontlines of protecting the nation’s food security.

Forge Institute, a leader in cyber workforce development and other cyberdefense related services, today named Matt Bunch to its Advisory Board, strengthening a board that has become one of the most cyber-knowledgeable in the Nation.

“The Forge Institute Advisory Board has impressive membership,” said Bunch, who has been a leader in the cybersecurity community for more than two decades. “It’s an honor to lend my perspective to the group.”

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) designates food and agriculture as one of the 16 U.S. critical infrastructure sectors, encompassing about 2.1 million farms, 935,000 restaurants and at least 200,000 production and processing facilities. Recently, the FBI issued a warning that food and agriculture are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. As Tyson Foods’ leading cyber executive, Mr. Bunch bears firsthand experience in protecting the Nation’s food security.

“Matt brings incredible insight to the Forge Advisory Board,” said Forge Institute founder and CEO Lee Watson. “Tyson Foods' role in manufacturing and food security is so critical not just to the state of Arkansas, but to the entire nation. Matt’s real-world experience in this essential sector adds a very welcome layer to the Board.

Bunch has served Tyson Foods in a technical, managerial, and cyber roles since 1997. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, and he holds a Masters Degree in Information Systems from the UA Sam Walton College of Business and a bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering from the UA College of Engineering.

The Forge Institute Board of Advisors’ membership includes cybersecurity, data science and infosec professionals from the private and public sectors.
