Forge Institute and the Arkansas Conference of Technology (ACOT) Team Up to Fortify Arkansas Schools against Cyber Adversaries to Safeguard Our Kids

In response to the alarming rise of cyber threats targeting educational institutions, Forge Institute is thrilled to announce a significant partnership with the Arkansas Conference of Technology (ACOT). This collaboration aims to reinforce cybersecurity across Arkansas’ schools, providing a robust shield for students, faculty, and staff against evolving digital threats.

Recent data from CNET reveals that in 2022, almost a million students were adversely affected by cyberattacks, resulting in an astounding $3.5 billion in downtime costs. The subsequent year saw a 44% escalation in cyberattacks targeting the education sector. Against this backdrop, the initiative by Forge Institute and ACOT is both timely and pivotal.

"Combining the collective expertise of Forge Institute and ACOT provides us with a unique advantage to combat these threats. The Arkansas Cyber Defense Center (ACDC) has consistently showcased its capabilities in assisting businesses to enhance their cyber defense mechanisms. By channeling this proficiency towards the educational realm, we aim to build a cyber-resilient framework for Arkansas’ schools," said Scott Anderson, Chief External Affairs Officer of the Forge Institute.

"We believe that raising awareness about cyber threats is fundamental to building a resilient digital ecosystem within Arkansas’ schools," said Darrell Parks II, Director ACOT. "By collaborating with the Forge Institute, we can enhance our efforts and ensure that school Information Technology professionals are better equipped to mitigate potential cyber risks and to protect students, educators, staff and parents."

Per the agreement, ACOT and Forge Institute will collaborate on various initiatives, including sharing of knowledge sharing and best practices, outreach and awareness campaigns, and training and workshops, all of which will be jointly conducted by both organizations. The workshop and training programs will focus on enhancing cybersecurity skills, threat detection, incident response, and risk mitigation.

School administrators and officials keen on understanding more about this partnership are urged to get in touch with ACDC at 501-239-9599 or to explore www.forge.institute/ACDC.
